At the end of 7 days on the road, we arrived back in Tokyo to recuperate.  While distracted by great coffee and stratospheric pancakes (I have never had better, they brought a tear to my eye), fantastic yakitori with friends, a revelation dawned on me

Our stay in austere Koyasan was an interesting experience.  Highlights include being: (1) treated to scrumptious vegetarian monk food but then waking up at 2am to the growling of stomachs; (2) the late night tour of Koyasan’s cemetery with 300,000 sleeping souls which ended with

The next day we went off to check out some more iconic Kyoto sites. This is probably one of the most spectacular.  This is Kinkakuji temple.  And that gold looking stuff on the temple walls. Its not gold foil. Its real gold. Probably quite a good
